Again, the Case for Taiwan

Submitted by John House, Sep 12, 2007 20:14

If there was a poster child for states that use their independence responsibly, that would be Taiwan. These brave and decent people have morphed from a fascist dictatorship that survived WWII by allying with the Unites States to a responsible country that exports high quality products, threatens no one, and generously supplies foreign aid.

Now is the time to forcefully show China that there is a viable alternative to a domineering and self-serving foreign policy, environmental irresponsibility, and a let-the-buyer-beware attitude toward exports. It is also time for developed nations to show that freedom and responsibility are valued in their own rights. Taiwan belongs in the United Nations as an equal, and as a model for China.

Freedom depends on this.
