The Epic Yarn of a Dominican Family

Clearly literature marches on but it's wrong to assume that Diaz learned from Shteyngar since the novela upon which his novel is based was published in the New Yorker to great acclaim two years BEFORE The Russian Debutante's Handbook. Which, if we follow the reviewer's logic, means that Diaz helped set 'ethnic' literature's the new direction long before the authors the reviewer claims Diaz is following.
