Clash Of Evils

The involvement of the US and Great Britian against Germany was necessary for victory. If Great Britian had surrendered, all of Hitler's might would have fallen on the USSR. Germany was forced to keep hundreds of thousands of troops waiting for the invasion by the US and Great Britian. More important the German Air Force was forced to defend Germany. These thousands of airplanes were not available to fight USSR. Could the US and Great Britian have defeated Germany without the USSR? Maybe they could have, after all Japan was finally defeated by the A-bomb. Maybe Germany would have been bombed into submission.

Hitler so hated the Communists and Russia that war with necessary for him. The fact the USSR suffered so badly from the war cannot be doubted. Hitler and Stalin were a pair of demons visiting this world. If Hitler had not attacked Stalin, then Stalin would have eventually attacked Hitler. The true irony is that Germany declared war on the US. FDR would have had a hard time getting Congress to declare war against Germany after the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor. The American people were furious at Japan for that attack and wanted revenge against the Japanese. Most of the US war effort was against Germany, not against Japan. Germany came very close to winning WW II and achieving domination of Europe. What a different world it would have been if Hitler had won.
