9/11 Horror Must Also Be Recalled
in response to reader comment: Gone on with our lives yes but not without the pain every day

Submitted by Maryann Barone, Sep 11, 2007 11:14

I am a survivor of that horrific day and all I can say is the loss of lives on that is immeasurable and cannot be defined. It is always a solemn day for me. Although I didn't directly know any one who had passed away in the disaster, I still feel the loss. Let's face it, everyone lost on that day was our fellow Americans. They didn't need to be related. Also, the firemen who sacrificed their own lives for us makes me especially sad. It still hurts me enormously that this disaster has happened to all of us during peace time and on our soil. The thought of that is frightening. My only resolution for the loved ones lost is to mark this day as Memorial Day and we should have it designated as a Holiday for all. I find it hard to concentrate on anything this day. I constantly reflect on what happened. My sorrow for all those lost is deeply profound. If I feel this deeply myself, imagine all of those who lost loved ones. Nothing can dismiss this horrible feeling. I light a candle at St. Pat's for those who lost their loved ones and all that were lost.
