It is so disturbing that law-abiding citizens who want to exercise their 2nd Amendment right have to pay enormous amounts to exercise that right. What's next, pay fees to exercise your 5th Amendment right to remain silent? Or how about pay fees to choose and practice the religion of your choice?

No one should pay anything to exercise one's civil rights. If the state of New York says that it needs the money to administer the issuance of licenses, maybe it should rethink that we are not supposed to get a license in the first place to exercise our civil rights. Nevertheless, the fees collected in this state are just so high compared to other states.
