Parker Jazz Festival Turns Up the Heat

Mz Lezlie Harrison is not new to me. One of NYC's up and coming jazz and soul vocalists, this young talented woman is one of my favorite music makers. I discovered her years ago and have been an unabashed fan ever since. Not only does she have undeniable stage presence, she also has a way with a song that sets her apart from many of her fellow singers. I expect this woman to acheive the recognition she deserves at any moment now. In fact, it is long over due. And a word about her trio, whom I also know: Just sensational! Saul Rubin, her regular accompanist and musical director, is an established regular on the NYC music scene and is qute a nimble guitartist. And the only word that comes to mind when I think of Kyle Koehler's organ playing is "smoking"! Seems to me that the Fest must have gotten off to a very nice start.
