Bush Will Liken Vietnam, Iraq

I was pretty shocked by this story. Why? Because I attended anti-war demonstrations during the Vietnam days and I can't recall there being much of an issue of what our pullout would mean to the countries we'd leave. It was about bringing our troops home. Period. But this story implies that at the time of the Vietnam war protests, it was claimed that the countries would be OK, according to the protesters, and that were proven wrong, the bloodshed continued, etc.

Also, lessons learned? Wasn't it the Republicans who were commanding the troops that were brought home? After building up the war, Nixon wound it down, Kissinger won "Peace with Honor" or whatever, and under the Ford administration, the last crazy escape of Americans occurred. So who left that war?

Finally, in how many public appearances has President Bush disdained any comparisons with Vietnam?

The whole thing adds up to a pretty strange story. Oh, and also, many major predictions the Bush administration has made concerning the developments of this Iraqi engagement were proven wrong. What is the track record by which they are to be believed regarding current predictions?
