Chinatown Turtle Tug of War Felt in Central Park

This article is just one more sad commentary on the way turtles are looked at in society. People think of them as disposable pets or as food or as somethng to throw away to make their lives better. They don't stop to think of the ecological consequences of their actions. Not only will the poor sliders die in that water but native species will get diseases from the non-native species which could wipe out that whole population. The mayor of New York needs to step in and get the laws changed about the way the turtles are treated in the markets, i think that they should not be sold at all but different cultures have different views on species consumption.
