I am a long time Mavs fan and I have to say.. I am shocked to see someone hit the nail so perfectly on the head. You couldn't be more right. I applaud you for actually having to guts to write this article because it goes against "conventional wisdom".. conventional wisdom where the media blames everything on Dirk and claim the Mavs win was a fluke because Nellie had "inside information".. can you believe this type of reactionary analysis is considered conventional wisdom? What amazes me is that no Dallas journalist has had the insight to write anything remotely like this. It amazes me how they are as completely deluded as Mavs fans. And I have no doubt in my mind Avery was forced to hire Paul Westphal... maybe they didn't come out and say it like that.. but Avery had to know it wasn't his decision. If it was he surely wouldn't pick someone that could possibly replace him if Cuban had the whim to do so. Also.. Dirk's agent, Holger Geshwinder, came out and publicly said Dirk and Avery were not a good combination. IF you have any kind of objectivity you have to see that as a huge issue.. one that could easily get Avery fired. in fact, Avery should have probably never been made Dirk's head coach. But I don't think anyone realized what a little dictator Avery would turn out to be.. Nellie even made a comment about how arrogant Avery was and Nellie probably said this because Avery was being too stubborn about how he was running the team and Nellie knew the Mavs were headed for a big fall. This article is so dead on it makes me wonder if this writer has an inside source.. either that or they have to be a genius. Either way.. bravo for getting the story straight! I will be following your writing from now on.
