Israel is again becoming the fall guy in the M.E. dynamics. If Israel didn't exist, there would be strife in Lebanon between the powerful competing groups (Shia, Sunni, and Christian). Saddam Hussein's brutal control over the Iraqi Shias, had nothing to do with Israel, nor his attack on Kuwait, Iran and Saudi Arabia. As far as the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, it has been going on for (according to Arafat) 100 years., long before Jordan was a gleam in the eyes of King Hussein and King Abdullah; Saddam launched a blood coup to take over that country; and the Shah of Iran was deposed. But I suppose it's easy to link Israel with Arab hostility towards one another. Yes, all these parties can blame Israel...it's easy to point fingers at the Jewish state as responsible for all that ails the Arab-Muslim worlds. Israel has offered to return the captured Palestinian areas over 10 times, to no avail. It recently made another offer, which apparently can still be refused. No, the solution in Iraq has nothing to do with Israel, it's strictly an intra-Arab dispute over who controls the oil. And as in the movie "Dune", who controls the spice controls...well you know the rest.
