Mr. Feldman is certainly right! He knows quite well the Tanakh and its pathological god.Of course , the genocide of the Amalekites and others did not really happen as historian. and archaeologists attest.Feldman is hardly slanting history as " The Unauthorized Version,"' The Bible Unearthed' and 'Who are the Jews and where do they come from?" This isn't anti-Semitic but the recognition that the Tanakh is not real history but made up after the Babylonian experience, whence comes the tale of Noah and the Deluge.Like, the late Rabbi Sherwin S. Wine, one can appreciate Jewish heritage without being a true believer! No, there is no hint of barbaric exclusivity but of the truth. All religions can have barbaric moments as they are all human creations,not creations of the supernatural. See Paul Kurtz's "The Transcendental Temptation" to see the link between the supernatural and the paranormal- all faith -based as is Marxism or Spencer-Randism! Fr. Griggs rests in his Socratic ignorance and humble naturalism. He might be wrong!
