A Life After Life For Shakespeare

Indeed an informative book. To read this and realize how the Bard was torn apart, edited, Bowlderized, etc. is enough to make one wonder about the egos of directors and publishers. I think the world would be fairly surprised to read the text of the first folio and then compare it to what is published today, or better yet, what gets produced on the stage. Directors are famous for omitting passages and scenes to cut Himself down to size. would we do this to Wilde or Shaw? How would Arthur Miller fair with this kind of treatment. Obviously Will left us more meat on the bone than we can deal with. Wonderful book, excellent review.

Obviously, neither the author or this reviewer has devoted any time to the Shakespeare authorship question to blow it... [MORE]
