Even the layman with no idea of law and jurisdiction intuitively perceived that Mayor Barletta was overstepping his powers.
I dispute the idea of a "grasroots" movement advocating for the cities and states to take federal issues into their own hands. Rather, what we have is some few, very motivated groups of determined, very militant individuals that make all the anti-immigrant noise they can in order to give the sensation of plurality.
Mayor Barletta's attempt not only was legal nonsense: it defies common sense as well.
Traditionally, common sense has been a commodity that the ordinary American has had to spare.
What are Americans waiting for to isolate these supposed "grassroots" groups and demand the Federal Government to tackle the issue?
