MTA Explores a Rail Link to Orange County in 1 Seat

Submitted by Michael J Clarke, Aug 6, 2007 14:05

In considering the development of a rail link to Manhattan from Stewart Airport, there was one aspect of air travel that was never mentioned in the article - luggage. I believe that one of the reasons that the JFK rail link with the Long Island Rail Road is underutilized is that people do not want to struggle with loads of luggage from one train to another, and then through the airport terminal.

Even with a "one-seat" rail link, a family of 4 or 5 would rather take a taxi, a bus, or have a family member or friend transport them to the airport. Unless some sort of convenient baggage check-in service is available along with the rail link, it'll never fly.
