When I was a naive and inexperienced 18 yr old Democrat my father offered me $100.00 dollars to participate in an experiment he dreamed up. For one year I would make a black mark beside the Republican or Democrat column on 4ft piece of poster board everytime the words , Ban, Mandate, Control, and Tax Increase were mentioned. At the end of the year (1978) the Democrats had mentioned the words 174 times that I was able to count reading local and state newspapers at the library. The Republicans mentioned the same words 11 times during the year. On December 25 of that year I collected the $100 dollars, and three weeks later I became a Republican.
