Bill Would Set Penalties for Wasting Energy

Submitted by Katie, Jul 27, 2007 12:05

It disgusts me every time I see a NYC business with the A/C blasting and the doors wide open. I made a phone call to West Elm (they were doing it this summer) telling them that I find it hard to believe that they aren't aware of the energy crisis we're in. I was very nice about it, but firm. They haven't had their doors open since. NYers have to make phone calls and let people know. If they want to sell shakes and smoothies (Brilliant's post), they can put a chalkboard outside saying, "Hey, come on in. We're keeping the door shut to protect the environment, but we want your business!" I tell you one thing, that would be the place I'd give my business to. NYers are concerned about the environment....it would be refreshing to see businesses respect that.
