As both a Jew and an American, I must say I am not offended by Mr. Ellison's comparison in either capacity. Whether or not Mr. Bush contributed to the events of 9/11, he certainly took full advantage of those events to further his control of citizens rights, Congress, and the use of American military power.
The war in Iraq was all planned before 2001, and all that was needed was any flimsy excuse. The relevant difference in this instance between the Nazis and the Bushis is that the Nazis put people in camps, and the Bushis make do with calling the opposition unAmerican and unpatriotic. In opposing a war that has turned a hostile state into the world's greatest exporter of terrorism, and has killed more Americans than died in 9/11, I consider myself neither of those.
Meanwhile, the Patriot Act is busy erasing many of the very freedoms that the true Patriots fought and gave their lives for.
