The proper order of procedure is first to CONFESS, then to beg forgiveness, then promise sincerely never to sin again. After forgiveness is gained, breasts being duly beaten, one can be said to have REPENTED, as the truth of the deed is no longer hidden and the conscience is clear. Everyone's curiosity satisfied, the sinner can go on his merry way, properly chastened and hopefully remedied of the original fault which led to the misdeed. The correct title for this piece, therefore, should be, "Governor, confess now!"
