The Virtuoso of Love

Never having done any reading on the subject I have always been confused as to why the set of Fragonards, while set in their boiserie at the Frick, lookd different. Four are vibrant and two look 'faded' if that is the correct word to use. Nice to hear that 2 are 20 years later than the first 4. I have to confess that the gooey Rococo looks to me like an inside joke, something for the Court only. With little to do with life in a non 'ce pays ci' world. Seeing these pictures in a sky-lit room I am sure will make all the difference. Thank you Ms. Poulet. Great stuff has been going on at the Frick since Anne Poulet took over. Obviously she knows how to talk to her fuddy-duddy board. Now let's hope that they make some progress on the proposed exhibition space under the Frick's front lawn. Those two existing suffocating galleries downstairs are claustrophobic beyond words. Keep up the good work, Ms. Poulet. Courage!
