An Ockfener Love Affair

Dear Peter,

I too have been an Ock Bock fan for many years. We enjoyed a tasting at the Dr Fischer estate this week with vintages 2006, 2005, 1973, 1969 and 1964. The 2006 are outstanding and follow the Fischer tradition of not being loaded with sweetness, almost ranking as dry Riesling, and I cannot confirm that the wines have lost any of their former greatness. The 1964 Spätlese was spectacular, and still very much alive.

Incidentally, Karin Fischer has been running the estate for many years. Her father-in-law, Dr Fischer, was a surgeon and died long ago. Her husband died in 1999.
