Reader comment on:
The Pitiless Universe of Montherlant

Submitted by Eric Ormsby, Jul 18, 2007 12:08

Mr. Begley's article offers a wonderful tribute to a great but sadly neglected author; however, he is wrong on one small point: Montherlant's contemporary Louis Aragon seems to be experiencing something of a revival. Gallimard has been re-issuing his novels in both its Bibliotheque de la Pleiade and Quarto series, and just this summer two fat volumes of his collected poems appeared in the same prestigious Pleiade. I hope that the editors at Gallimard will read Mr. Begley's re-evaluation and do the same for Montherlant.
