Many years ago I worked on the Baltimore Orioles groundcrew and Rickey was with the A's. The first night of each series (whenever the A's were in town) he would walk over to the ground crew area (during batting practice) and shoot the breeze with us...mostly a bunch of high school kids. He was at the top of his game back then, and may have had a hell of an ego. But he was as funny and personable a guy as you would ever want to meet. And he played the game with as much passion as anyone I've seen. I'm glad he's back. He's good for the game.
