The City's 'Affordable' Housing Crisis

Submitted by LaQuisha Rollins, Jul 10, 2007 14:02

I understand all this new construction and HDC developing affordable housing but who are they affordable for. I am currently employeed and have been since I have been able to do so. I have not found anything affordable about a place to live in NYC in all my life. My name must be on any and every application in the lottery for these so called affordable housing but I never even get a response. I am a single parent and on a day to day basis I wonder more and more how I am going to make it living in NYC with there so called Affordable Housing.

When looking for a place to live if you do not have a program and you work they raise the rent guidelines but if you apply for these programs and you work you dont qualify. I am still gonna fight to find something affordable.
