while i agree that gehry's portfolio can be overbearing, taking the jubilee church over bilbao is ridiculous. only viewing these strucutres for their photogenic value is like reading your article to see how many words are in it. the cultural, economical, and architectural impact of bilbao is one that has never been seen before, and will most likely never be seen again. the jubille church on the other hand, while beautiful asthetically, is a smack in the face to the residents. it gleams white and sticks out like a sore thumb in the poor community that it serves. i can only imagine that there would have be 10's of better ways to use the money spent on it. i dont claim that either use their works to better their surrounding communities, but sometimes they stumble onto these circumstances.
