The Agony of Triumph

It seemed to me that Nadal's performance dipped after he injured his knee and asked for assistance from a trainer. He limped from time to time. His serve seemed less powerful and he seemed to put fewer first serves in play. Also, I thought his court coverage was affected by the injury. One can argue that Federer won because he raised his game in the final set, but I have not read any interview of Nadal, attempting to learn from him the impact of his injury. Nadal is a class act and consequently one would not expect him to talk about the effect of the injury on his performance.

Was I imagining these changes in Nadal's play? Before closing let me say that your coverage of the Gentleman's Final at Wimbledon contained excellent information about points won, by far the best of any other account that I read.
