Jumping the Fence

Well, Sen. Lotthorn does have a point, unintentional as it may be. "There ain't no fence big enough, high enough, strong enough" to keep out a mass of humanity determined to swim around it, dig under it, or cut their way through it. That's why the fence is a complete waste of time as far as latino migrations are concerned. If the Senate were serious about deterring illegal immigration, I have a very simple formula:

1. Minimum $5,000 fine and 2 days in jail for anyone who employs an illegal alien, PER ILLEGAL EMPLOYED, PER DAY. Citizens, corporate execs, and Mitt Romney included, no exceptions.

2. Quadrupul legal immigration quotas for certain countries, only for those applying in person in their country of origin. Applicants found to be in the US illegally during thier application period are banned from entry for life.

With that in place, a fence would become counter-productive, as it would only slow down the massive wave of humanity trying to go south. You wouldn't even have to enforce it very hard, too many people would be deathly afraid of the potential penalty to risk hiring. Then it becomes simple supply and demand, no jobs, no illegals.
