Thankfully I'm not the only one who sees the inadequacies of Guch. He has the potential to be that central defender but I really don't think his skill level is there and everyone has just fallen in love with his size. I take more offense with clumping Bocanegra with him. Bocanegra has at least shown the intelligence to play his position as well as the physicality. Guch was lucky to get a chance in the EPL but it greatly exposed his inferior skill level, but if you give him time he could make us forget about a young Eddie Pope.

The thing that I think that hurts us most is our egregious finishing. If Bradley can develop the strikers to finish much more effectively it will make our average to suspect defense that much stronger. Our defense, as it is now, is young and needs more experience, but aside from Guch has shown more promise with skill (and even Guch has shown glimpses) than anything we offered on the backline in the past 20 years. The midfield is our strength, especially now that the EXTREMELY OVERRATED REYNA has given up the international game (someone please enlighten me to how we let this guy run our team - he was mediocre in every single way imaginable) to allow us to put guys like Feilhaber and Bradley on the field.

Bradley is doing the same things Reyna was doing when he left the team, the difference is Bradley can develop way past the potential that Reyna ever played to, and Feilhaber's winning strike showed how lethal our mids can be.

Big Bradley is taking this team in the right direction. It will take some time to develop the backline, but they are serviceable as is and will only get stronger if more emphasis is placed on FINISHING NEAR THE GOAL!!
