Virtually nothing came out of the meeting between Bush and Olmert, except more of the same rhetoric.

Bush is still pushing for a 2 state solution, Jew and Arab living side by side in peace and fellowship.

Israel may have gotten a few more million shekels to purchase a few state of the art warplanes, to match the arms being sold to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria (Saudi Arabia alone has a 40b dollar arms agreement with the Brits).

I don't know how much in arms is going to Iran or Syria from Russia., but it amounts to billions of dollars worth.

Abbas says one thing to the West and Israel, and another to his own people now in the West Bank., and it's more mischief for Israel.

Israel is considering supplying Fatah with some equipment and weapons..hoping that it will best Hamas.

The problem is still the same, the Arab world cannot tolerate a Jewish state in it's midst.

Until that attitude changes, all of Bush's dreams will be unfulfilled. What is going on now is putting a band aid on a 100 year old problem. Blair can go to the area, and try to suceed where Dennis Ross failed.

The most that all the parties can hope for in the future is for self-government by the Arabs in the territories, with a minimum of Israeli involvement., buttressed by Egypt's and Jordan's power, in good faith. Otherwise, this conflict will continue and worsen. But Israel would be very unwise to go back at any time soon to the 67 Auschwitz borders and allow for the right of return, which is not a right. We must remember that the Arab world never accepted UN 242, which had a formula to end this conflict.
