Good review, but it's unfortunate that mainstream success and album sales are key measures for you when, as you say, they aren't for Jack and Meg. Remember, Jack fought piranhas, and he fought the cold. Why don't you? As a member of the loyal (and fairly meainstream) following that was a bit disappointed by Get Behind Me Satan, I can say the new album is plenty "old" enough for me. As for Warner Bros. execs, who cares?
