this is an interesting article that links to other gifts people are receiving in record numbers and not always using- Gift Cards. trading, buying and selling gift cards has been around a little while, but i've never seen a philanthropic way like www.DonateAGiftCard.com . here people donate gift cards to any charity they choose, similar to the bar and bat mitzvah teenagers choosing the right community service project to give their own gifts.
both are interesting new ideas on donating without really spending any of your own money.
