I am very upset that the school is closing. I feel like the school
has opened many doors for me and given me many opportunities. I
really think the Department of Education is not thinking about the
choice they are making to close the schools. It does not really make
sense. If they close the school they are going to have many more
problems with serving pregnant teen?s needs in regular high schools.
The drop-out rate will increase and eventually they are going to have
to re-open the schools again. The DOE is not thinking about the best
interest of us as students they are thinking about what is best for
them. It does not matter to them how we feel about the schools
closing. The DOE should have considered us and asked us how we felt
before they just took it upon themselves to go and say they were going
to close the school's down. They keep telling us that Cami Anderson is
an advocate for teen moms but I feel like that is a lie because as an
advocate she should have told me why I was being interviewed when she
brought the New York Times to my school. She should have told me that
the article I was being interviewed for was about my school closing.
I feel like the DOE is a failure. They failed to educate us and now
they will fail at trying to close the schools. The DOE failed us as
young moms and young women of color.
