We have Jay Akasie to thank for his diligence in recognizing our deficiency in not realizing that Flag Day has its origins right here in New York. We seem to have gotten caught up in celebrating every other multicultural event that we overlook how it all got started. This fact also relates to the lack of civics courses in our schools. Perhaps we can begin to correct this situation by beginning to celebrate "Constitution Day" on September 17, 2007.
