Losing Battle For Sderot
in response to reader comment: Reasonably prosperous?

First of all, I would advise JOSH, who, in my opinion, submitted a very good analysis of Hillels article, to use a few paragraphs to separate his thoughts. It really would accomplish better what he intended to convey to the readers.

Secondly, yes indeed I concur that the Arabs whatever their original make-up, have done far more to hurt themselves, than anything Israel could have instigated. With billions of dollars given to them since 1948, they have not taken advantage of the world's pity, sympathy, financial aid, and overall support for their causes.

It's a travesty that the surrounding countries around Israel, have not adopted their Muslim cousins as has Israel, but kept them isolated, in so-called refugee camps all these years (as witnessed most recently in the flare-up in the camp near Tripoli). We know that a few hundred thousand Arabs have now mushroomed into millions of people.

Instead of the world (specifically the US) insisting that the 250,000 Arabs be intigrated into Lebanese society, they will now face the arms which are being rushed to the Lebanese Army, by US.

It took a supposed Al Qaeda linked group within the camp, fighting the LAF, and several deaths, to prompt this latest shipment.

But the real culprit, is the division of Lebanon into Hezbollah, a gov't within a gov't, and the rest of Lebanon's people's, who have fought one another for years, Lebanon, the onetime jewel of the Med.

Until the Lebanese and other Arab countries, which were the recipients of their own governmental encouragement during the 48 and 67 wars with Israel, to leave their homes within Israel, with the expectation that the Arab armies would be victorious over the outnumbered and hapless Jews, thus allowing for them to return to the booty, change their attitudes, these kinds of incidents will recur.

When the Arab world assumes the responsibility for integrating these people into their economies, rather than holding out the wishful thinking that they will return to Israel itself, in triumph or under the so-called right of return, the calamity will resolve itself.

Israel took in over 700,000 people, who assimilated into a vibrant society. The Arabs, with all their immense resources could do likewise. But they have chosen not to, for their own selfish reasons. And the 100 year old conflict between Jew and Arab still continues, getting worse.
