Hollywood produces train wrecks like this because the people who films get pitched to are all 18 to 30 something year old video game junkies with one track minds. If it's not sex then it's spectacular 'kabooms' on the screen. They were brought up on television/video games/ and dumb movies made by successive generations of ever devolving film makers who just get worse and worse. Sophia Coppola looks like a genius with her 'Marie Antoinette'. People like Kubrick appear like mystics to the bozo boys of HOllywood who live for flashy cars and big expense accounts. Why do the studios/producers finance them? Because they feel these morons have their fingers on the pulse of the movie going audience. There isn't a brain among them.
