Albany Mulls an Apology for Slavery

The body is made to heal itself. Sometimes our marvelous body may need a little disinfectant, or debridement, etc. to help its natural process. The horrific holocaust that happened right here in America - slavery - is a heritage and deep setted wound of Blacks - as well as whites. We are all proud when we have a wonderful heritage - we feel warm and good inside - stick our chest out with pride as we tell others about our ancestors. But what if your heritage was filled with the atrocities that Blacks have? There is a bitter underlying feeling of inadequacies, and a bunch of other feelings that are either buried or magnified by the conditions that still exist today. Slavery officially "ended" in 1865, and in the1970's there were still race riots. If all African Americans are asking for is a verbal apology, what is your beef!!!!! Yes, we came and TOOK land from the Indians, but we came and TOOK people from their homeland to enslave, kill, rape, torture, belittle, make a profit off of, etc. Is this body I'll call America not worth all its parts to be whole and healthy as possible? Do you think a body is healthy with a festering sore on its foot? How long? Would you rather cut it off? If an apology can help lead the way towards healing one segment of society, what is your beef??? The African American problems are never your concern until your loved ones get lost (or something) in a bad neighborhood or when you are the target of buried frustration that you helped create - when you act like you don't see that your foot is inflammed!!
