The press and the pundits botched the decision on who won the first Republican debate. Before and after polls at debate-sponsor MSNBC.com showed Ron Paul the runaway winner, going from 9% favorable before the debate to 43% favorable afterward.

Ron Paul also won debate polls on ABCNews.com and C-SPAN.org by wide margins.
