Maybe everything is lined up in Albany. But sometimes things don't work out the way you think. Without a Republican senate Democrats become suburban Democrats and the commuter tax doesn't sound like a good idea. Manhattan Democrats become rich Manhattan Democrats and rent controlled apartments are not good for property values. As for reforming collective bargaining, no matter who is elected in Albany, one union sells out another all the time. The city picks of the weakest union, "convinces" them to take a bad deal, and then forces every other union to follow the pattern even in binding arbitration.

Maybe paradise is around the corner but I've gotten very cynical as I've gotten older.
