In author Con Coughlin's bio of Saddam Hussein, he writes of Mayor Chirac giving Saddam a tour of french nuclear reactors in 1975. Saddam bought 2 reactors, although only one was ever built. Yes, the Osirak nuclear reactor, with no other purpose than producing plutonium for Iraqi nukes. Israel destroyed that reactor in 1981, and the civilized world was left to ask why any rational nation would sell such a horrible weapons factory to such a craven killer.
