Reader comment on:
‘Screaming and Crying' Greet Arab School Plan
in response to reader comment: A Mistaken "Model"

Submitted by Tim Geoghegan, May 8, 2007 22:14

The only demagoguery I see here is Mr. David's response. My support of the school is as much a nod to the growing population or Arabic-speaking students already resident in Brooklyn, Queens, etc. BUT also an opportunity for a wide range of non-Arab students to learn the Arabic language and culture.

Real estate development in Doha, Qatar alone is estimated to be worth billions over the coming decade. Wouldn't New York City school children benefit from knowledge of Arabic if they wished to pursue a career in international real estate?

It is a large world out there and the Arabic language is part of it.

I stand by my support for the school.
