Living in the midst of throngs of revening fanatics, who are inspired by by the noble and austere vision of a Monotheistic Deity that these fanatics have debased into a simple superstition, the Israeli's can only lose one war, for that would be the end of Israel and, quite possibly, even Judaism. Therefore, the Israelis in the transactions of their confused and messy politics, wisely see that the essential decisions are taken and later evaluated. Would that the Locust Years of the Clinton Regime were subjected to the same rigorous examination. The collapse of the USSR presented so many national security options that were either not perceived or ignored by the hacks of the national security apparatus. It's past time to take back-bearings as the Israelis are prone to do.
