College Censorship

Let's face facts. Colleges and universities are corporations interested in the bottom line. These factories are no longer institutions of higher learning or seekers of truth. The company rules and "values" in Mr. Leo's article touches the surface of a miriad of problems within these corporations. David Horowitz's book "The Professors: The 101 Most Dangerous Academies in America" discusses the problems in great detail.

Censorship is a sneaky process, i.e., offering courses hand picked by the tenured left is contrary to the system of learning. Students are given no choice. As Horowitz wrote regarding today's radical academics, "...all the while collecting tax dollars and tuition fees to indoctrinate our children." The cut-throat attacks on Adjunct Professors who actually love to teach, who enjoy a healthy debate, discuss right v. wrong is censorship. They are told by aedministrators in not so many words, to give "A's," especially to the protected classes and wealthy kids. "Tow the line or walk." These brilliant academics with the best credentials are never given tenure. They are contrary to the company culture. In turn, we end up losing the best and the brightest. How long can a person be beaten down by their colleagues and students?

Graduates are expected by employers to be "well-rounded young people who can think for themselves." I know many recent graduates from expensive, prestigious universities who simply put feel "entitled." They feel entitled to have a job and a high paying one at that. They feel entitled to be anti-American, they feel entitled to have everything served up on a silver platter. They can't even write a decent cover letter, yet they had a total of 16 - 18 years of eduacation. Parents all over America are scatching their heads thinking,"What happened? I spent all this money on the best education my child could get and he can't even write a letter." They are not equipped to do anything, yet they feel this entitlement. Some who are well equipped go on to medical or law school. (They'd be better off attending trade schools, becoming plumbers or carpenters - that's where all the money is.)

Most of all, this "educational system" cheats students from the joy that learning brings. The greatness of discovery, self-esteem and forming an opinion is gone. Instead, the misinformation that is passed on as truth is all they have. It's so sad for them and for our country.
