Identity Crisis at the Brooklyn Museum

Submitted by Nancy Joyce Jancourtz, Nov 20, 2006 12:58

I visited the Brooklyn Museum once since I relocated in Brooklyn some eight years ago. Later, during Mayor Giuliani's tenure; the disgusting assault upon Christianity was displayed. "Disgusting" is my own assessment--and I was disgusted that taxpayer funds be spent on such ugliness.

Art is a portrayal of beauty--to my way of thinking--whether in the fields of music, dance, literature, theatre--or painting and sculpture...There lies the reality: Man possesses the need to express himself in such manner, that only he, among all other creatures, can.

There are many museums where enormous beauty and brilliance can be observed. And, although various cultures--throughout our existence--have produced interesting works, beginning with our cave-dwelling ancestors; much of recent vintage (in our world of chosen chemical interference) is grossly unartistic (as is certain so-called music).
