Democrats want to stop all American wars, since these would be victories for the Republicans, not Democrat leftism. The Democrats support Islamists and apologize for them because both groups want to defeat Republican liberal democracy. An American defeat in Iraq would be a victory for leftism, just as Vietnam was. To Democrats anti-war posturing is not treasonous, because they are not loyal to America. Like most leftists, they loathe centrist modern liberal democracy, and especially George Bush's use of it, because it is their main competitor.
