How Hot Can the Art Market Get?

Submitted by ariel, Apr 24, 2007 10:59

This is not an art market -it is a "name market " Auctioneers being
a step lower than used car salesmen have learnt to put on a tie and jacket
and look respectable to get the money they wanted , They then become "art
experts " selling "names" to collectors of names. Lucky for them there are enough
pathetic idiots to buy into the game . A 9th. rate work by a "name" will always bring
in more than a 1st. rate work by an unknown . Auction houses trade on this knowledge only
too well .Auction houses never deal in the 1st rate unknowns .
I am beginning to have more respect for used car salesmen .,at least they are up front
in their deceptions .
