SG: "but despite the supposed validation of three Gold Gloves" As SG knows, Jeter's Gloves came in '04, '05 and '06. We're a long way from Jeter being moved because he can no longer live up to the Yankees Shortstop Standards he helped establish. One hopes SG is trying to stir some controversy with this piece's tone, but it's hard to ignore how in sync he is with the hero-hatred that's defined academia/intelligentsia for so long. There are Gods amongst us, SG. In spite of pieces like this one, some of them are playing for the Yankees in 2007 -- try to enjoy it. JH
