Derek Jeter has always been an asset to the NY Yankees, in more ways then being their shortstop. Besides he skill and dedication, he sets the example and is a true inspiration for the young athletes of today through his playing skills and the promotion of teamwork amongst the players.

Whether he is on the playing field, or faced with citicism or tough questions posed by the press, Derek has always handled the situation as a gentleman. As a avid fan of the Yankees, I can't say when I remember him ever having a temper tantrum, throwing his bat in anger or mouthing foul words at the umpires or the other team.

If the day should come that the Yankee managers decided its in the best interest of the team to move him to another playing positions, I think that Derek will keep any personal feelings about the matter to himself, and will do what's necessary to help out the team....and, he'll do it with grace and a smile!
