Court Backs EPA Chief in 9/11 Toxins Case

Submitted by Stephen W. Davis, Apr 21, 2007 14:42

It is abundantly clear that the American people and our governing bodies are eager to assign heroism to those who respond to crisis or the call to military duty. At that point, they are political and national assetts. However, when, in the course of that response the "heroes" are broken, they become financial liabilites and when the stories emerge of how meanly they are treated they become political liabilities. One need only read the April 7, 2007 issue of "The Nation" and the article detailing the number of current wounded Iveterans being discharged due to bogus "preexisting personality disorders" to understand this basic premise of American life, which extends back at least to the veterans returning for World War 1. Those few of you who know anything of history will remember the "Tent City" erected by those veterans forced to demand the benefits they had been promised. One need only remember the years it took for the govenrment to admit Agent Orange and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder due to the police action in Vietnam, or the resistance in official channels to Gulf War Syndrome. This action by the 2nd Circuit is perfectly in keeping with our history. Support the troops and the heroes, my foot.
