Bloomberg Anti-Gun Campaign To Air Ads
in response to reader comment: The left using a tragedy for political gain.

It is unfortunate that such an intellect such as Michael Bloomberg is so ignorent on this topic. The second ammendment is an individual right but he chooses not to think of this as a right. Why does society not demand any purchaser of any publication to need a LICENSE to buy a news paper or any item that possesses the written word that is sold in any commercially licensed establishment? The root problem is never the fire arm it is the break down of the Family unit and respect for one another. If this country had a manadatory draft that the entire European continent requires from their youth several things would develop. Discipline would be instilled and respect toward others. You would cut the gang population by at least 50% and save on money by not going to jail. Mayor Mike speaks about upholding the law, how about enforcing all of the illegal immigrants that reside in the city of New York. It costs 14,000 dollars for each child to educate and out of 1 million 2 hundred thousand students in public schools there are approximately 300,000 kids that are in the system that do not belong in this country. But instead Mayor Bloomberg would rather reassess one's property and then impose an 18% property tax increase on the working people. In an 18 month time frame Mayor Bloomberg and Gifford Miller raised property taxes by 24%. I firmly believe an individual that was born in Brooklyn, went to College in Staten Island, when married lived in Manhattan and presently reside in Queens and has been around fire arms my entire life it has never effected me my family my children in any negative way. My wife ,my two daughters and my self go shooting all of the time. Maybe the UFT ,Randy Weingarten and the NRA, should reinstitute a rifle team back into the public school system. It is an official Olympic sport but not one young person that resides in the city has an opportunity to be able to explore this if they would want to. And no I am not law enforcement I am an educated individual that has a family businees and married for 20 years. Can Mayor Mike or Rudy make such a claim, I think not.

To conclude, Mr. Jhn Lott the author has hit it right on the more guns there are in any society the less amount of crime there will be. Great Britian is a perfect example, they stripped their people from their fire arms and crime is through the roof. I would rather walk in the South Bronx at 2:00am then walk in downtown London at 8:00pm.
