In China, Dead Inmates' Organs Sold to Tourists

Submitted by Makina, Nov 17, 2006 23:09

It was just a few months ago that an investigation on human organ trafficking in China conducted by two Canadian lawyers, Messrs. Kilgour and Matas, concluded that Falun Gong practitioners organs are being extracted while they are still alive and sold to the highest bidder. Websites showed that organs could be procured in a short week for a huge amount of money. The Canadian report notes that between 2000 and 2005 there was 41,000 organ transplants unaccounted for. This was about the same time as the war on Falun Gong started. But, so far the Chinese government is in denial and has not provided any explanation to these allegations. Instead they've admitted to harvesting organs from executed prisoners in December 2005 and are singing the same refrain.

This leads one to wonder what exactly Health Minister Huang Jiefu has in mind. The Chinese government can't be too worried about written consent looking at the speed in which they butcher the unwilling donors who belong to the Falun Gong spiritual group. That practice also addressed the so called 'donor shortage'--killing two birds with one stone. Despite the new laws, it is doubtful that the booming macabre practice will stop--I can't see them giving up such a lucrative industry. The mere fact that the China International Organ Transplant (CIOT) website was resurrected, after shutting down when criticism of live organ harvesting targeting Falun Gong surfaced, strongly indicates that this ordeal is still going on.

It is clear that the new laws on organ regulations and nice promises are nothing but a smokescreen. Make no mistake, death row prisoners' organs account for only a small fraction of the organ trade in China--Falun Gong prisoners of conscience is likely the main source of organs. http://investigation.go.saveinter.net

Sooner than later, Communist China has to be held accountable for their crimes against humanity no matter what the cost. Maybe we should rethink the 2008 Olympic venue.
