Did the NBA Overreact With Crawford Suspension?

Submitted by Brian Schwellinger, Apr 18, 2007 13:26

How can we not see that the players in the professional sports world rule to the detriment of their sport? Can you say Barry Bonds without feeling sick to your stomach? How about Roberto Alomar spitting on an umpire? Hockey fans recently saw a player assault another player with a vicious two handed chop to the head. Football, jeez, look at the injury pile from cheap shots given each year. Read the rulebooks of basketball and most professional players wouldn't last 5 minutes in a game called by a competent high school ref. Follow the money and you will see why owners turn a blind eye towards fair play and following of rules. Now it seems as if David Stern has gone over to the wrong side as well. I hope Crawford doesn't need the money so he can tell the entire league where to put the whistle. He is a stand up guy that doesn't take crap from over paid athletes that seem to think the world revolves around their game. Maybe he can make quite a living by writing a book about a great sport that has been destroyed by the love of money. Think about the Olympics and you have proof of how low professional basketball has gone. I long for the likes of Oscar Robertson, Hank Aaron, Bart Star or Dan Marino and have turned the TV off when it comes to professional sports.
